Our maintenance process starts with a full inspection of the piece to identify surface wear, joint movement, or faded finish. We use natural oils and polishes specifically designed for native timbers like rimu to bring out the grain and protect the surface.

Scratches and minor dents are carefully sanded and blended, ensuring the original character remains intact. Finally, we tighten joints, re-oil surfaces, and apply a protective wax or polyurethane topcoat based on the piece’s use and condition.

Our restoration begins by carefully dismantling components if needed and assessing the structural condition. We strip away old varnish or finishes, preserving the wood beneath. Any damaged or rotten parts are replaced with matching native timber.

We hand-sand and refinish the piece using a blend of oils, stains, or custom colour matching. The final product retains its authentic look while gaining strength, longevity, and a refreshed appearance — ready to last another generation.
